Boston Scientific IAS Shanghai
Boston Scientific is a leading company in designing and manufacturing of medical devices. The main purpose of Shanghai’s 35th-floor project was to accommodate distinct office functions of the Institute for Advancing Science (IAS).
The facility is a combination of offices, classrooms, laboratories and creative areas, which serve as a main training area for physicians and technicians operating Boston Scientific medical devices.
Moving from the big picture to the details, we asked Boston Scientific’s employees about futuristic projects they were working on and what technologies they were currently implementing. We were surprised to find that one of the most impressive tech solutions being implemented was not directly related to medical science. Employees were using the IoT and big data in collaborative works to bring scientists and inventors from across the globe together to help push ahead medical science.
In order to utilize the space in a variety of ways, an entire floor has been designed with minimal visible borders between particular functions. Visitors are able to see laboratory work and the showroom area without interfering with office workers, and trainees can move flawlessly between laboratories and meeting and training rooms. Furthermore, we wanted the showroom area to be interconnected by reflecting lights off metallic wires on the ceiling, which represent the IoT and big data flow.
Finally, Boston Scientific’s products are designed for humans, so it was important to relate to nature and elements of the body. As the company is becoming a core for the medical science field, we decided to use the human core – skeletal structure – as inspiration for the showroom, wrapping it around select areas to underline their importance.

Sosnica Hotel
Sośnica is a part of Gliwice city in southern Poland. Its origins are dated back to the XIII century but it developed into an important mining area after the Second World War. To attract labor and enhance local tourism communist government has built many hotels for the particular industries, with the venue names largely inspired by the industrial origins of the area. Hence the Sośnica appeared in the region located far from the original city – in the mountain area of Zakopane, the polish “winter capital”. Zakopane is famous for its unique architectural style, food, nature, and the highest mountains in Poland – Tatry, which are part of the European Karpaty mountain range. It became a popular destination for tourists all year long with many ski slopes, trekking routes, and biking paths to choose.
The main design task was the old hotel renovation and its extension. The challenge was to renovate the existing building into a modern high-end ski resort but keep the previous atmosphere of the historical hotel and local culture. The main inspiration comes from all the elements combined together and represented on one side in natural and raw materials such as wood, concrete, marble, stone veneer, layers of nature in the mountains, and on another side in decorative elements typical for the mines: ropes, metal mesh, coal carts you can see in many layers of mines.
The design area includes outdoor public facilities, external swimming pools, indoor public spaces such as bar, restaurant, reception, corridors, lift lobby, kids room, gym, ski equipment room, and 3 types of serviced apartments/hotel units.

ARCC Shanghai
ARCC is a company focused on corporate real estate with an interest in lifestyle led concepts through three complementary lines of business: Work, Live and Play.
This combination lets the company stand out as one of the most premium choices among shared coworking spaces and fully managed private offices with great locations in many Asian cities.
The new facility in Shanghai is located within the vicinity of Shanghai’s famous Pudong skyscrapers area, where the most enviable world companies are placed. A large amount of f&b choices mixed with great communication and high living standards make the area a hot spot among business-oriented visitors.
Each ARCC office is different. To develop a new concept, we looked at Shanghai’s most important artery, which led to the city historic development – rivers. To enclose how the rivers changed the city and what Shanghai looked like in the past, we created a set of water coloured oil paintings representing the city’s colours, textures and changing moods. In this way, travelling through the office, visiting its distinct areas, we are discovering different faces of Shanghai.
